Dockenbush self catering holiday cottage is near to the spa town of Harrogate which is home to a world-renowned tea shop and an equally famous toffee maker.  Food and drink has always been important in the Harrogate District, at North Dockenbush and Dockenbush Cottage we’re surrounded by an excellent choice of eateries! New for 2017 sees the arrival of Gino D’Campo with a 3 floor restaurant, champagne bar and roof terrace!  Favourites of ours include The Malt Shovel (details below) Lockwoods in Ripon, and The Station at Birstwith!

Betty’s Tea Rooms – Harrogate

The story of Betty’s began in 1919 when the founder, Frederick Belmont, opened his first Betty’s tea Room in the fashionable spa town of Harrogate. The combination of mouth watering Swiss confectionary and Yorkshire warmth and hospitality is second to none and a must-do!

Fodder – near the show ground

Harrogate Fodder sells the best food and drink from Yorkshire with a fully stocked butchery counter, deli counter laden with fresh pies, pasties and a huge variety of amazing cheese. Fruit and veg is delivered straight from the farms and there are lovely jams and chutneys alongside freshly baked local breads. The coffee shop/restaurant is lovely.

The Malt Shovel – Brearton

Our local 16th century inn serving delicious food for lunch and dinner and an excellent choice of wine and ale. The steaks are fab! Check out their website or Facebook page for the latest menu and also for details of their ‘special events’ including quiz nights and live entertainment!

The Station, Birstwith

Another favourite of ours, The Station is a country pub in the heart of the village. The choice of food is very good and the service outstanding, desserts to die for!

Old Bell Tavern

The specials board at the Old Bell is used to the full and, as an ever-changing variety of dishes throughout the week, on Fridays the board is dominate by a selection of fresh fish and seafood dishes. (Harrogate town centre).

Wellington Inn – Darley

A pub with a restaurant with open fires and snug seating and lovely countryside views – great to sit outside in spring and summer!

The Square & Compass – North Rigton

Set in beautiful countryside just outside Harrogate the Square & Compass is a lovely place to enjoy good food and drink.

The Fat Badger – Harrogate

The Fat Badger is a thriving English pub in the heart of Harrogate’s Montpellier quarter. The pub serves a delicious range of snacks, meals and puddings.

Highly recommended, reservation essential, Harrogate’s premier Thai restaurant.

The Royal Baths

Beautifully refurbished building now hosts one of the finest Chinese restaurants, excellent food and service.

Drum & Monkey

Renowned seafood restaurant, one of the best!

Thai restaurant in Harrogate, the set menu is a delight!

Le Bistrot Pierre

French restaurant, part of a chain but early bird menu is excellent value, good service and great location, especially for pre-theatre.

Pizza Express in Harrogate

Well known Italian chain, town centre location.

Early bird (order before 7.30) for any pizza and glass of wine – great deal and fantastic pizza’s – owned by Sasso’s the Italian restaurant just around the corner. During the day Marconi’s is the place to sit and sip your cappuccino and enjoy authentic Italian cake!
